Football Players of the Week: Week 6
Following Week 6, the Gulf South Conference Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Freshman of the Week were announced on Oct. 11. Below are the honorees:
Offensive Player of the Week: Seth McGill, RB – Valdosta State
McGill had a career night in the Blazers' 55-0 shutout of Delta State. The junior rushed for a career-high 186 yards on 14 carries for a impressive per carry average of 13.3 yards. His longest run was a 35-yard scamper giving VSU a 35-0 lead in the second quarter, good for his fifth touchdown of the season. McGill has eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark three times this season, including back-to-back games in the wins over Shorter and Delta State.

Defensive Player of the Week: Nick Moss, LB – Valdosta State
Moss continued his impressive start to the season as he tallied a career-high 17 tackles, including eight solo stops in the Blazers' 55-0 victory over Delta State on Saturday. It was the first shutout for the Blazers since 2018 and the second all-time against Delta State. The senior tallied one tackle for loss as the Valdosta State defense held the Statesmen to a 0-for-4 clip inside the red zone. Moss now has recorded double-digit tackles in four-of-five games this season for the Blazers. He entered the week 29th nationally in solo tackles at 5.8 per game, while he was seventh in total tackles at 11.5 per game. Moss and the Blazer defense have only allowed 30 points all season in five games for a 6.0 average, while the offense is scoring at a 45.8 clip.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Estin Thiele, K – Valdosta State
Thiele helped lead VSU to a 55-0 victory over Delta State on Saturday, marking the first shutout for the Blazers since 2018. The sophomore recorded ten kickoffs for 641 yards, averaging 64.1 yards with four touchbacks, while he converted on field goals from 36 and 41 yards in the fourth quarter putting the Blazers over 50 points for the third time this season. Thiele scored 13 points in the game, making all seven of his extra-point attempts as he is a perfect 29-of-29 for the season.

Freshman Player of the Week: Will Breland, LB – West Florida
Breland had a team and career-high seven tackles in West Florida's 52-10 win at North Greenville.
