Following Week 3, the Gulf South Conference Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Freshman of the Week were announced on Sept. 20. Below are the honorees:

Offensive Players of the Week: Demetrius Battle, RB – West Alabama
Battle helped the Tigers roll to an 80-0 victory over North American University on Thursday night. The senior had 10 carries for 170 rushing yards on the night for three touchdowns, including a 69-yard run, his longest of the game.

Defensive Player of the Week: Trent Archie, DB – West Florida
Archie led the West Florida defense with eight tackles and two sacks in a 35-17 road win over No. 21/13 Texas A&M-Commerce. The redshirt-senior was part of a UWF defense that held the Lions to 231 yards of offense in the game, including a scoreless second half with 67 yards and two turnoverd.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Omar Cervantes, K – West Georgia
Cervantes accounted for nine points in West Georgia's 27-26 win over No. 22 Delta State. The junior was 3-for-3 on PATs and 2-for-3 on FGs, converting attempts from 28 and 29 yards.

Freshman of the Week: Will Breland, LB – West Floruda
Breland made four tackles, including two solo stops, in the road win at No. 21/13 Texas A&M Commerce. The freshman was part of a UWF defense that held the Lions to 231 yards of offense in the game, including a scoreless second half with 67 yards and two turnoverd.
