#GSCFB Players of the Week: Week 2

Following Week 2, the Gulf South Conference Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Freshman of the Week were announced on Sept. 13. Below are the honorees:

Co-Offensive Players of the Week: 
Rodney Coates, WR – West Florida
Coates had a career-high 126 yard receiving with nine catches and two touchdowns in a 63-14 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday. The senior's TD catches went for seven and six yards, and he averaged 14.0 yards per catch. His scores tied the game at 7-7 and put UWF up 21-7 as part of the 63 unanswered points.

Ivory Durham, QB – Valdosta State
Durham accounted for a career-high four touchdowns and rushed for over 100 yards in the Blazers' 51-7 victory at Virginia Union on Saturday. The junior converted 16-of-31 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He rushed for a career-high 112 yards on four carries and scored twice, including a 59-yard scamper for a score. It marked his first career 100-yard rushing game of his career.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Nick Moss, LB – Valdosta State

Moss was all over the field in the Blazers' 51-7 victory at Virginia Union. The senior led the team with a VSU career-best 14 tackles, including eight solo stops and returned a fumble 44 yards in the contest. Moss led a Blazer defensive unit that limited Virginia Union passing to 97 yards.

Special Teams Player of the Week:
Estin Thiele, K – Valdosta State
Thiele went 1-for-2 in field goals and attempted a 56-yarder for his second field goal attempt of 50 or more yards this season, while connecting on a 37-yarder in a 51-7 victory at Virginia Union. The sophomore went 6-for-6 in extra-points and now is 12-12 in extra-points this season and 2 for 3 in field goals. He also handled the kickoff duties with nine kickoffs for 559 yards, averaging 62.1 per kick, with five touchbacks.

Freshman of the Week:
Kory Gainwell, RB – Delta State
Gainwell returned three kickoffs for 83 yards, averaging 27.7 yards per return, marking the second-straight week to post 80 or more return yards. The rookie also had five carries for 23 yards and a touchdown.
