Flagler Claims Fourth Consecutive GSC Women's Lacrosse Title

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Top-seeded Flagler claimed its fourth consecutive Gulf South Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship after defeating second-seeded UAH 17-11 on Sunday at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex in Huntsville, Ala.

With the win, Flagler earned the GSC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Regional Championship. The NCAA Selection Show is May 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
  • UAH opened the scoring with two goals, but Flagler answered for a tied game, 3-3, after the first quarter. The Chargers and Saints continued to battle back-and-forth for a close 7-5 game at halftime.
  • Both teams scored a goal to begin the third quarter, but Flagler went on a 5-0 run to make it 13-6 with 7:29 left. UAH looked to rally with five goals in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter but fell short as Flagler almost matched with four.
  • Flagler led in shots (33-31), shots on goal (23-21), saves (12-7), caused turnovers (5-4) and draw controls (21-8), while UAH had more ground balls (16-13).
  • Flagler’s Carley Tepel was named Most Outstanding Player following a nine-point performance with six goals and three assists. Ella Pinder led the Saints defensive with a game-high seven draw controls.
  • UAH’s Ella Rutherford had a team-high four goals and notched one assist, while Olivia Rewers scored three goals.
  • Saint goalkeeper Dakota Capolino registered 12 saves in 21 shots on goal for a .571 save percentage, while Charger Brooke Denny made seven saves in net.
