BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Lee’s Luke Collier and Evan Bloomer along with UAH’s Seth Staggs secured 2026 Gulf South Conference Baseball Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions, following performances during the week of April 6-12.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Luke Collier, SS, R-Jr., Lee
The Flames’ shortstop had a solid week hitting .556 (10-for-15) with seven RBI and six runs scored, helping Lee go 4-0, including a GSC series sweep over Valdosta State. The redshirt-junior also posted a .579 on-base percentage and slugged 1.000 with a double, a home run and two triples during the four-game slate. Collier opened the week by going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in a decisive 11-1 win over Tusculum. Against Valdosta State, Collier was 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate, scored five times and drove in six runs in the three-game series. The weekend was highlighted in the series finale, where he went 3-for-4, driving in five runs and scoring twice.

GSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Evan Bloomer, So., Lee
Bloomer was credited with a complete game 8-2 win in the series opener versus Valdosta State, improving to 6-0 on the season. The sophomore right-hander tossed 9.0 innings with eight strikeouts, while surrendering two runs on five hits. Facing 32 batters, Bloomer left Valdosta State hitters with a .161 batting average.

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Seth Staggs, 3B, UAH
Staggs hit .692 (9-for-13), slugged a 1.000 and had a .789 on-base percentage, while helping the Chargers to a 3-1 week, including a series win at Mississippi College. He also finished week with two RBI, seven runs scored, four doubles, three walks and three hit by pitches. In the series with Mississippi College, the rookie third baseman was 8-for-10 (.800) with five runs scored and two RBI. In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Staggs went 4-for-4 with three triples with drive in one run and scoring once. Staggs is currently riding a 23-game hit streak.
