Lee's Turner Named NCBWA Region Player of the Week

LAKELAND, Fla. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its NCAA Division II weekly award winners of the 2026 for performances between March 16-22, with Lee's Cody Turner named South Region Player of the Week.

Turner put together a strong week at the plate, going 10-for-15 (.667) with 10 RBI, seven runs scored, and four walks to help the Flames go 3-1. He slugged 1.200 with two home runs and a triple, posted a .737 on-base percentage, and earned a win on the mound. The junior appeared primarily as Lee’s designated hitter, while also seeing time at first base and as a relief pitcher, where he worked 1.1 innings and struck out two batters in the series opener against Christian Brothers. Against CBU, Turner was a perfect 8-for-8 (1.000) with eight RBI and six runs scored over Lee’s first two games,  helping the Flames sweep the three-game series.

Previously named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, Turner is the league's seventh student-athlete this season to garner weekly region accolades, and the fourth GSC hitter to b enamed region Player of the Week. He is also the first Flame recognized since Josiah Miller during the 2024 season. The GSC has now claimed NCBWA South Region Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks.
