BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The ninth set of 2026 Gulf South Conference Baseball Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions were announced with Delta State’s Tucker Jones (player), Mississippi College’s Cooper Cooksey (pitcher) and West Florida’s Tucker Ricks (freshman) recognized for their performances during the week of March 23-29.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tucker Jones, OF, Jr., Delta State
Jones had three multi-hit and multi-RBI games to help Delta State go 3-1 on the week. The junior posted a .500 batting average (10-for-20) with 10 RBI runs and scored six times. He also slugged .800 on the week with home run, triple and double while tallying a .500 on-base percentage. In Delta State’s conference-series at UAH, Jones drove in nine runs and was 8-for-15 (.533) at the plate, as the Statesmen swept the series.

GSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Cooper Cooksey, R-Sr., Mississippi College
Cooksey tossed a career-high 12 strikeouts and notched his first win of season as Mississippi College posted a lopsided 14-1 decision over Valdosta State. Working seven innings, the right-hander was credited with a complete game, allowing one run on four hits. He faced 26 batters and held Valdosta State hitters to .174 opponent batting average while posted a 1.29 ERA for the week.

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tucker Ricks, RHP, West Florida
Ricks earned his third GSC Freshman of the Week award after tossing seven strikeouts in a seven-inning performance against AUM. As a result, the rookie right-hander improved to 5-1 on the year. Ricks, who faced 24 batters, surrendered just one walk, one run and three hits in the outing, while finishing with a .130 opponent batting average and a 1.29 ERA.
