The Gulf South Conference announced the league’s women’s soccer Player of the Week awardees for performances based on matches from September 4-7.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Olof Thorvalsdottir, So., F/M, West Florida
Thorvaldsdottir tallied five points (2G–1A) in the opening week of the season as West Florida went 1-0-1. The sophomore scored in her debut during the 60th-minute against Flagler. She then assisted Jillian Thompson’s goal in the 40th-minute against Embry-Riddle to cut the deficit to 2-1, before scoring the equalizer in the 72nd-minute, which proved to be the final score. Thorvaldsdottir also finished the week with three of six shots on target while playing 172 minutes.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tiana Trahan, So., D, West Alabama
Trahan contributed to the Tigers’ wins over Kentuckey Wesleyan and Illinois Springfield during the opening week of the season. The sophomore scored in the 47th–minute against Illinois Springfield. In addition, she played a total of 144 minutes and helped organize the West Alabama backline to a pair of clean sheets while allowing a total of eight shots on goal across the two games.

Hernandez registered back-to-back clean sheets to help West Alabama start the season with a 2-0 record. The rookie face 14 shots across two games, stopping five in season opener at Kentucky Wesleyan, before turning away three more against Illinois Springfield.
