AUSTIN, Texas — The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced that Alabama Huntsville women’s lacrosse student-athlete, Riley Kirby, was among those selected to the 2023-24 NCAA Division II At-Large Academic All-America Team.
Kirby was named a Third Team Academic All-American, with a 3.86 undergraduate grade point average and a grad school GPA of 3.60 while studying Mechanical Engineering. She was previously named the GSC Honor Roll and All-Academic Team.

On the field, Kirby was a First Team IWLCA All-South Region selection and a First Team All-GSC honoree, while also participating in the IWLCA Division II Senior All-Star Game. The GSC Defensive Player of the Year finished the 2024 season with two points (1G–1A) while tallying 35 ground balls and league-leading 40 caused turnovers.
With the announcement, Kirby became the Gulf South Conference’s tenth CSC Academic All-America honoree from the 2023-24 academic year. She is also the GSC’s fifth women’s lacrosse honoree and seventh overall selection since the sport’s first sponsored season in 2016.
Student-athletes with a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher and satisfy other criteria are eligible to be nominated by members of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Nominees recognized with Academic All-District® honors are then added to the national ballot which is voted on all College Sports Communicators members affiliated with a Division II school or conference.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all divisions of college athletics.
