BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Twenty-five Gulf South Conference volleyball student-athletes from 10 member institutions were named to the 2023 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, as determined and announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

With the announcement, the conference doubled the number of teams represented from 2022 and saw a 56 percent in total Academic All-District® awardees. Among those honored, Union had a conference-best four representatives, followed by three apiece from Alabama Huntsville, Lee, Montevallo and West Georgia.
Eight GSC student-athletes advanced to CSC Academic All-America® ballot—UAH's Autumn Mayes, Montevallo's Allie DIshman, Kamble Frenette and Macy Martin, West Florida's Jenna Zydlo, as well as West Georgia's Sanai Young, Zoe LaBreche and Kelli Kaiser. All-American selections are voted on by CSC members and will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and between the lines. Nominees must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. In addition, fall sport candidates must compete in 90 percent of their team's games/sets or must start in at least 66 percent contests/sets.
