GSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: April 1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during March 23-29.

CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Amiah Murry, Jr., UAH
  • Had two collegiate personal-bests and new school records in the 200m and 400m alongside DI athletes at the UAB Spring Invitational.
  • Won the 200m with an NCAA provisional mark of 23.67.
  • Also finished first in the 400m with another NCAA provisional mark of 54.34.
  • She now ranks first among GSC leaders for both events, fourth in DII for 200m and eighth in DII for 400m.
CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Maria Mitchell, Gr., Lee
  • Placed 23rd out of 71 in a field that was loaded with D1 competition in the 3000m steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays.
  • Registered an NCAA provisional mark with a time of 10:25.82.
  • Now ranks first in both the GSC and DII for the event.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cooper Garrett, Fr., UAH
  • Won the javelin throw among DI talent at the UAB Spring Invitational.
  • Threw a distance of 46.71m for a new school record and collegiate personal-best.
  • Recorded an NCAA provisional mark, placing her first in the GSC and ninth in Division II.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Cooper Garrett, Fr., UAH
  • Won the javelin throw among DI talent at the UAB Spring Invitational.
  • Threw a distance of 46.71m for a new school record and collegiate personal-best.
  • Recorded an NCAA provisional mark, placing her first in the GSC and ninth in Division II.
