GSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: April 22

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its final 2026 Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during April 13-19.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aria Hawkins, Sr., Lee
  • Competed in the 1500m and 800m alongside DI talent at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
  • Placed second in the 1500m with a time of 4:19.84.
  • Ran a 2:15.52 in the 800m to finish 30th in a field of 92.
  • Currently ranks first in the GSC and fourth in DII for the 1500m.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rebekah Zweerink, So., Mississippi College
  • Earned a second-place finish in the discus at the UAH Rocket City Invitational.
  • Threw for a distance of 44.87m, good for a personal-best and school record.
  • Ranks first among GSC leaders in the event.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Cooper Garrett, Fr., UAH
  • Won the javelin throw at the UAH Rocket City Invitational.
  • Threw for a distance of 46.14m.
  • Currently ranks first in the GSC and 11th in DII for the javelin throw.
