GSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: April 8

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during March 30-April 5.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tamsyn Gibbs, So., UAH
  • Recorded a personal-best and school record in the 3000m steeplechase at the Mike Fanelli Classic.
  • Took home third among DI talent with an NCAA provisional time of 10:45.49.
  • Now ranks second in the GSC and 10th in DII for the event.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kennedy Thompson, Jr., Mississippi College
  • Competed in the hammer throw and discus alongside D1 competition at the Southern Miss Invitational.
  • Placed sixth in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 48.60m.
  • Threw for a distance of 40.69m in the discus.
  • Currently ranks first in the GSC for the hammer throw.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
J’Da Williams, Fr., West Alabama
  • Posted first and second place finishes at the UWG Legends Meet.
  • Won the 100m with a time of 11.76.
  • Also medaled at second in the 200m with a time of 24.71.
  • She currently ranks first among GSC leaders in the 100m and second in the 200m.
