BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track & Field weekly award for performances during the week of Jan. 5-11, 2026
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Wes Egalite, Jr., UAH
- Finished third in the 60-meter hurdles at the UAB Blazer Invitational.
- Posted an NCAA provisional time of 8.11 seconds in the finals, while stopping the clock at 8.07 during prelims.
- Second GSC weekly award of the season.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Malik Turner, Jr. UAH
- Placed third in the high jump at the UAB Blazer Invitational with a career-best 2.05m (6’8.75”).
- His performance is the best of the among GSC jumpers and earned was good for NCAA DII provisional mark.
- First to Charger to earn GSC weekly field accolades this season.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Schyler Chambers, Mississippi College
- Recorded a fourth-place finish in the triple jump and took third in the long jump while competing at the UAB Vulcan Invitational.
- Had two collegiate personal-best marks, landing at 6.87m (22’ 6.5”) in the long jump, while notching 14.81m (48’ 7.25”) in the triple jump.
- He is now second among GSC leaders in both events.
- Earned a place on NCAA provisional list in the triple jump.
