The Gulf South Conference announced its fourth men’s and women’s cross country Athletes of the Week awardees of the 2025 season for performances from September 22-28.
 
GSC WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Maria Mitchell, Jr., Lee
Mitchell delivered a standout performance placing fifth overall in a field of 205 runners as she competed in the Lucian Rosa Invitational in Kenosha, Wis. The senior set a personal record with a time of 21:32 in the 6K course. As a result, she was Lee’s top finisher as the team took home seventh in the team competition.

GSC WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Elyse Carmichael, Fr., West Florida
Carmichael ran the 10th fastest 6K time in program history as she competed in the FSU XC Invitational, which was dominated by NCAA Division I programs. The freshman navigated the 6K course, clocking a time of 22:55, making her the second highest DII and UWF finisher. She helped lead the Argonauts to a 14^th place team finish in a 36-team field.

GSC MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Ahmed Ibrahim, Gr., UAH
Ibrahim won the Lucian Rosa Invitational in a field of 219 runners. The graduate student completed the 8K course with a time of 24:10, the ninth-best time in UAH history. He helped lead the Chargers to ninth place in the team race with 273 points.

GSC MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Chris Ross, Fr., Lee
Ross competed at the Lucian Rosa Invitational, placing 51^st in a field of 219 runners. The rookie completed the 8K course with a time of 25:50. Lee finished third in the team race with 91 points.
