GSC Duo Earn Place on NFL Opening Week Rosters

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Two former Gulf South Conference football standouts earned spots on 53-man active rosters ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Kenny Moore II, a cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts and Valdosta State alum, enters his ninth NFL season and fourth year serving as a Colts captain. Since joining the Colts in September 2017, Moore has played in 118 games with 105 starts, compiling 541 tackles, 10 sacks, 20 interceptions, and two touchdowns. Before turning pro, the two-time nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award appeared in 46 games during a four-year career with Valdosta State, where he tallied 171 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 11 interceptions for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Moore was inducted into the GSC Hall of Fame in 2023.

Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins and a former West Alabama standout, begins his 10th NFL season and fourth year in Miami. Hill has played 141 career games racking up 798 receptions, 11,098 yards, and 82 touchdowns, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers. He played one season at West Alabama in 2015, registering 27 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing on special teams with 20 kickoff returns for 487 yards and 20 punt returns for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

The two GSC products will meet in Week 1 of the NFL season as the Colts and Dolphins face off on Sunday, Sept. 7.

In addition, two other GSC alumni and former West Florida standouts D’Anthony Bell and John Jiles (New England Patriots) will begin the season on the practice squads. Bell enters his fourth NFL season with Seattle Seahawks after playing three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, while Jiles begins his second and remains with the New England Patriots.

The Gulf South Conference celebrates its 55th season of football in 2025. The GSC has appeared in the NCAA Division II football championship game six times in the last eight seasons and leads all conferences with 13 national titles.
