Lee’s women’s team, No. 2 in the USTFCCCA South Region rankings, will be in pursuit of its ninth consecutive team title after it posted the first perfect team score (15 points) in GSC meet history last year. Mississippi College (No. 6) will look to break Lee’s streak and win its first ever title after placing second for three of the last four years. Other challengers include UAH (No. 6), Union (No. 10) and West Florida (No. 7).
Lee's Maria Mitchell is a standout for the women’s individual title as the only runner in the conference to break 21 minutes in a 6K this season. This would make eight out of the last ten individual title winners from Lee. Addi Aguayo of Union cannot be counted out as the reigning USTFCCCA Division II Runner of the Week with the conference’s second best 6K time. Other competitors to watch for include Estella Clemons and Capucine Cureau of Lee, Mississippi College' Lauren Wallace, as well as Elyse Carmichael and Jessica Chappel of West Florida.
The men's race meanwhile will feature two nationally ranked teams. Fifth-ranked Lee, winning of the last three GSC titles, will be the frontrunner while No. 28 UAH seeks its first team team title since 2021. The two schools have combined to win 13 of the last 14 titles. Also expected to be in the mix are AUM and Mississippi College.
For the individual title, Ahmed Ibrahim of UAH is the favorite, holding the top-2 8K times in the conference this season. From Lee, Pierre Chauveau and Luke Gaddis will also be in contention with the third and fourth best 8K times this season and two top-10 placements at last year’s championship. Also vying for the top spots are Lee’s Edimo Ninteretse and Tucker Wright, Montevallo’s Zak Ferguson and Union’s Aaron Fynaardt.
