Lee, UAH's Ibrahim Win 2025 GSC Cross Country Titles

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Lee University and UAH’s Ahmed Ibrahim won the 2025 Gulf South Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship, held Saturday morning at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tenn. 

The Flames tallied 21 points as they accounted for five of the top seven finishers. As result, Lee captured their fourth consecutive conference title and eighth in program history, while also tallying the lowest men’s team score at the GSC meet since 2011.

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

UAH placed second with 57 points, while the rest of the order consisted of Mississippi College, Auburn Montgomery, Union, West Alabama, Montevallo, West Florida, Christian Brothers, Trevecca Nazarene, and Valdosta State.

Ibrahim topped the field with a time of 23:29.37, becoming the first runner to log a sub 24-minute effort since 2015. Based on his performance, he also earned First Team All-GSC honors and was named 2025 GSC Runner of the Year. 

Montevallo’s Zach Ferguson was recognized as GSC Freshman of the Year after clocking a time of 24:13.38, good for sixth-place overall. Ferguson is the first Falcon to win season top freshman honors.

Lee’s Caleb Morgan meanwhile was dubbed GSC Coach of the Year, following a vote by his peers. This is Morgan’s fifth consecutive time winning and ninth-time overall. 

All-conference honors were based on the individual’s finish at the GSC Championship race, with finishers 1-10 earned first team and finishers 11-20 claiming second team accolades.
