West Georgia's Daniels Earns NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week

DALLAS — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released it third Division II Regional Players of the Week awards for the week ending on February 19, 2023. For the third week of the 2023 season, West Georgia junior first baseman Henry Daniels was named NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week.

Daniels put up big numebrs at the plate last week, hitting .615 while going 8-for-13 to help West Georgia notch a 3-1 week, including a conference series win over West Alabama. The Wolves' first baseman also logged three doubles and two home runs, while driving in six runs and scoring six times. Daniels also finished the week with a 1.308 slugging percentage and an .722 on-base percentage. After three full weeks, Daniels leads the GSC in batting average (.586), slugging (.931), and on-base percentage (.667), while being tied for fifth among conference leaders in hits (17).

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.

Daniels becomes the third consecutive GSC hitter and fourth overall player this season to earn NCBWA region honors.
