BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For the seventh-consecutive season, Lee was tabbed as the favorite in the Gulf South Conference Women’s Cross Country Preseason Poll, as voted by the league’s head coaches.
2022 SCHEDULE
The Lady Flames, who claimed their fifth-straight GSC title in 2021, were chosen unanimously with 12 first-place votes and amassed 144 points. Mississippi College was picked second with 125 points and one-first place tally.
Alabama Huntsville was a close third at 124. Montevallo was picked fourth with 104 points, while Union rounded out the top five with 96 points.
Tied for sixth with 77 points was Valdosta State and West Florida. Christian Brothers was picked ninth with 69 points, followed by Auburn Montgomery (67), West Georgia (48), West Alabama (39), Delta State (28) and Shorter (16) rounding out the poll.
The women’s cross country campaign is slated to begin Friday, Sept. 2 with seven teams in action. The 2022 GSC Championship is set for Saturday, Nov. 5 on-campus at the University of Montevallo.
