MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Lee placed five runners in the top 12 to win its fifth Gulf South Conference Men’s Cross Country title on Saturday morning at the Montevallo Cross Country Course in Montevallo, Ala.
Jan Lukas Becker from Mississippi College won the individual title for the first time in program-history.
The Flames recorded 38 points, while Mississippi College finished as runner-up with 41 points. Alabama Huntsville was third with 60 points, Montevallo took fourth with 161 points and Valdosta State followed with 186 points to round out the top five.
Becker took the individual title with a time of 23:50.7 to earn First Team All-GSC and GSC Runner of the Year accolades. UAH’s
Sam Wilhelm finished in second (23:53.2), while
Aaron Himes checked in at third (23:53.9).
In addition to Becker, Mississippi College saw
Gabe Poulin (24:02.1) and
Hunter Kurz (24:02.2) among the top 10 finishers, at fourth and fifth respectively. UAH’s
Allan Anderson placed eighth (24:10.3). Lee’s
Silas Eckenroad (24:02.7) and
Will Stone (24:02.9) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, with
Ezekiel Harless(24:23.8) rounding out the top 10 and First Team All-GSC honors.
In addition to their team title, the Flames’
Jon Fielding Stogner was named GSC Freshman of the Year and head coach
Caleb Morgan was voted GSC Coach of the Year. Stogner was the top freshman finisher coming in at 13
th with a time of 24:32.3. As for Morgan, this was his first time winning since 2018 and fifth of his career.
