The Gulf South Conference announced its fifth set of Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards for the 2021-22 season. This week's awards were for games played between Dec. 6-12.

Player of the Week: Kortrijk Miles, F - West Alabama
Miles shot 50 percent (11-of-22) from the field in West Alabama's two wins over the past week. The junior forward scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season in UWA's win over Tennessee Southern on Dec. 7. In a victory against West Georgia, Miles shot 5-of-10 from the floor as well as 3-of-5 from the free throw line to score 13 points. He recorded four rebounds as well as two assists and two steals against UWG. Miles leads the Tigers in both points and rebounds while scoring at least ten points in every game this season. The junior is second among GSC players in points per game (18.3) and rebounds per game (7.5).

Freshman of the Week: PJay Smith, G/F - Lee
Smith averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 57 percent from the floor in two games played this week. In a win over Lindsey Wilson on Dec. 7, the freshman scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting while grabbing four rebounds. He also recorded three assists as well as one steal in 27 minutes. In Smith's 21 minutes against West Florida, he shot 2-of-6 from the field scoring five points. Smith also recorded five rebounds as well as two assists and two steals as the Flames fell to West Florida.
