Each year, the Conference recognizes the most outstanding male and female athlete with the presentation of its most prestigious award: The Commissioner's Trophy.

The criteria extend beyond outstanding athletic prowess; included are leadership qualities, school and community service, academic success, character and sportsmanship. The winners and their parents or guardians will be invited to attend the GSC Annual Banquet in June. The cost of the winners' dinner and lodging for one night will be paid by the GSC; reasonable costs incurred for transportation may be paid by the winners' institutions.  Per NCAA Bylaw 16.1.6.5, the actual and necessary expenses for the award-winners families may not be paid by the institution.
