LAKELAND, Fla. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Delta State's Mason Shropshire as the NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week.
  
Stropshire was credited with a 7-1 win as Delta State eliminated top-seeded West Alabama in the Gulf South Conference Baseball Championship. The right-hander had a scoreless no-hitter through 7.2 innings, exiting with eight strikeouts, allowing one run on one hit, and four walks. The Statesmen eventually reached the tournament's title game. As a result of his impressive performance, Stropshire was named to the GSC all-tournament team.

With the announcement, Shropshire became the second Delta State pitcher in three weeks to earn the award, joining Adrian Byrd

During the 2026 season, the Gulf South had 13 student-athletes recognzied, combining for 14 total weekly awards over the span of 14 weeks. On four occasions, the conference swept regional weekly accolades.
