OXFORD, Ala. — Day two of the 2026 Gulf South Conference Baseball Championship continued Saturday from Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala., and saw wins from Lee, West Florida and Trevecca Nazarene.
Tournament action will resume Sunday with three more games. No. 1-seed West Alabama and No. 5-seed Delta State open the slate at 11 am CT, followed by No. 4-seed West Florida and No. 6-seed Trevecca at 2:30 pm, while No. 2-seed Lee and No. 3-seed Mississippi College are set for 6 pm. West Florida 8, Mississippi College 1 | Box Score
The Argonauts collected a lead early and never looked back, after receiving runs from Tyler Brobst and Greg Pettay in the second. West Florida produced eight runs on 15 hits, with Pettay going 3-for-3 at the plate, as the Argos had nine batters register at least one hit. Mississippi College meanwhile finished with one run on four hits.
Colton Dorsey was credited with the win, tossing four strikeouts and allowing one hit in seven innings. Caleb Peterson was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits.
West Florida increased its advantage to 4-0, as Pettay scored in the fourth and sixth. Then in the seventh, Tanner Taylor had a solo home run before Pettay notched an RBI-single to make it 6-0. UWF scored twice more in the ninth with runs from Alex Urias and Jake Cooper
The Choctaws avoided the shutout late into the ninth as Ty Murphy scored on an RBI-single from Jake LaRocca, who finished the game with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate.
Trevecca 13, West Alabama 7 | Box Score
The Trojan batters were locked in early, notching four home runs, while scoring seven times on eight hits in the first. Trevecca batters racked up 20 hits with multi-hit performances from Rylan Moses (4-for-6), Cade Martin (2-for-4), Noah Boughton (3-for-6), Drew Bradley (3-for-5), and Jaxson Christ (3-for-5). Spencer Wilkins collected the win throwing six strikeouts in 6.0 innings while allowing six runs on six hits.
The West Alabama offense meanwhile finished with seven runs on eight hits. Kyle Blevins led the way with a 2-for-3 outing, while Rashad Robinson went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Baker Green was dealt the loss for the Tigers surrendering seven runs on eight hits in 0.1 innings.
Trailing 7-0 after the first, West Alabama cut the deficit to three, thanks in part to Robinson who had a two-RBI single and later scored in the frame. UWA also received support from Layth Holiday who scored on a wild pitch. That was the closest the Tigers got however as Trevecca pushed the margin it 11-4 after sixth, scoring once in the third and three more times in the sixth. The Tigers also plated two runs in the sixth and one in ninth but it was not enough to rally.
Lee 9, Delta State 3 | Box Score
Evan Bloomer’s eight strikeouts in eight innings helped the Flames to a 9-3 win on Saturday, while the Lee offense tallied 13 hits. The right-hander set the tempo early limiting Delta State to just one hit in the opening three innings. During that time, Lee hitters built a solid 6-0 led, highlighted by a five-run second.
The Statesmen put themselves on the board in the fourth, thanks to a RBI-single from Walker Maranto. In spite of the blip, Bloomer continued to cruise holding Delta State batters to two combined hits during the fifth and sixth innings before going three-up, three-down in the seventh.
The Flames margin increased 8-1 following the seventh with runs from Luke Collier in the sixth and Nate Carabello in seventh. Collier later made it made it 9-3 with a solo home run to left-center during the eighth. In the top half of the eighth, Delta State pulled two runs as Maranto drove in Tucker Jones before eventually scoring on a pass ball to make it 8-3.
Collectively, Delta State finished with three runs on seven hits. Blake King was dealt the loss as he allowed five runs on five hits, while walking four in 1.1 innings.
