GSC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: March 11

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during March 2-8.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jeremiah Fails, Sr., Montevallo
  • Competed in four events at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.
  • Earned a pair of second place, personal-best finishes in the 100m and 200m races.
  • Logged a time of 21.31 in the 200m for a school record and current third-best time in Division II.
  • Participated in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay, finishing first in both and now ranking first among GSC leaders.
Other nominees: Brodie Roberts, Mississippi College; Jalen Green, West Alabama

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Christopher Johnson, Gr., Montevallo
  • Posted a first-place in the discus throw at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.
  • Met the NCAA provisional mark with a distance of 54.32m.
  • His personal-best and school record now ranks first in the GSC and Division II.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Brodie Roberts, Fr., Mississippi College
  • Placed first in the 100m with a personal-best at the MC Spring Classic.
  • Recorded an NCAA provisional time of 10.29 for the third-best finish in Choctaw history.
  • His performance places him in first in the GSC and Division II.
