GSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: March 11

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during March 2-8.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Taylor Benoit, Jr., Mississippi College
  • Won the 5000m at the MC Spring Classic with a time of 16:58.56.
  • Registered a school record and collegiate personal-best by 10 seconds.
  • Now ranks first in the event among all of Division II and GSC leaders.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kennedy Thompson, Jr., Mississippi College
  • Competed in the discus throw and hammer throw at the MC Spring Classic.
  • Finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 41.27m.
  • Also finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.37m for a personal-best and second-best in Lady Choctaw history.
  • She now ranks first among GSC leaders in both events.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Natania Nasieku, Fr., Montevallo
  • Had two collegiate personal-bests at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.
  • Notched a top-finish finish in triple jump with a distance of 11.29m, placing her first in the GSC and 16th in Division II.
  • Also competed in 100m hurdles and finished with a time of 17.25.
