BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during March 2-8.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Taylor Benoit, Jr., Mississippi College
- Won the 5000m at the MC Spring Classic with a time of 16:58.56.
- Registered a school record and collegiate personal-best by 10 seconds.
- Now ranks first in the event among all of Division II and GSC leaders.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kennedy Thompson, Jr., Mississippi College
- Competed in the discus throw and hammer throw at the MC Spring Classic.
- Finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 41.27m.
- Also finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.37m for a personal-best and second-best in Lady Choctaw history.
- She now ranks first among GSC leaders in both events.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Natania Nasieku, Fr., Montevallo
- Had two collegiate personal-bests at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.
- Notched a top-finish finish in triple jump with a distance of 11.29m, placing her first in the GSC and 16th in Division II.
- Also competed in 100m hurdles and finished with a time of 17.25.
