GSC Women's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions: Feb. 4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Women’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during Jan. 19-Feb. 1.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Liz Lannom, Lee

  • Competed at the South Alabama Jaguar Invite.
  • Finished second in the 200m with a NCAA provisional time of 24.54, in a Division-I heavy field.
  • Ran the third-fastest time (8.58) in 60m hurdles prelims and earned a spot on the NCAA provisional list, while setting an indoor program record. 
  • This is Lannom’s first GSC weekly award of the season.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Hekla Magnusdottir, UAH

  • Placed sixth in the pentathlon with 3,559 points at the PNC Lenny Lyles Open  hosted by University of Louisville.
  • Posted an NCAA provisional score as well as a personal-best and program record.
  • Ranks second among GSC competitors in the event this season.
  • This is Magnusdottir’s second GSC weekly award of the indoor season, she was previously named GSC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 10.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Aubrey Anderson, Lee

  • Finished second in the triple jump at the South Alabama Jaguar Invite.
  • Recorded a personal-best distance of 11.55m (37’ 10.75”).
  • Also competed in the long jump, finishing seventh with a personal-best of 5.36m (17’ 7”).
  • This is Anderson’s first career GSC weekly award.
