BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Lee’s Taylor McGovern (offensive), UAH’s Sydney Schiavone (defensive) and UAH’s Olivia Rewers (freshman) were recognized with Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions, following their performances between Feb. 16-22.
GSC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor McGovern, So., AT, Lee
McGovern picked up 14 points as the Lady Flames went 1-1 on the week. The sophomore attackman registered eight goals on nine shots, as well as 1 assist in a 16-12 win at North Greenville. She also scored five goals, while finding two ground balls and causing one turnover in a 13-9 loss against UVA Wise. This is McGovern’s second-straight GSC Offensive Player of the Week award of the 2026 season.

GSC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Schiavone, Sr., D, UAH
Schiavone led the Chargers defensively to two wins on the week. The senior defender found two ground balls, caused two turnovers and added one draw control in a dominant 16-1 win at Lincoln Memorial. She also had four draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 12-8 loss to No. 4 Florida Southern, while recording three ground balls and one caused turnover in a 13-7 win over UVA Wise.

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Olivia Rewers, Fr., AT/MID, UAH
Rewers had a team-high 13 ground balls to help UAH pick up two wins on the week. The rookie had three goals and three caused turnovers, as well as one ground ball in a 16-1 win at Lincoln Memorial. She also scored one goal in each of the Chargers’ games against Florida Southern and UVA Wise, while causing seven ground balls against the Moccasins and five against the Highland Cavaliers. This is third GSC Freshman of the Week award of the 2026 season as she also earned it Feb. 3 and 10.
