BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The fourth set of 2026 Gulf South Conference Baseball Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions were announced with Montevallo’s Jack Fitzgerald (player), Delta State’s Adrian Byrd (pitcher) and West Florida’s Tucker Ricks (freshman) recognized for their performances during the week of February 16-22.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jack Fitzgerald, 1B/OF, R-So., Montevallo
Fitzgerald had a productive week hitting .538 (7-for-13) with eight RBI and three runs scored across four games. He also had a .571 on-base percentage and slugged 1.385 with two doubles and three home runs. The redshirt-sophomore began the week driving in four runs and went 2-for-2 at the plate in a mid-week tilt with Tuskegee. He then went a combined 5-for-11 (.455) at the dish in a three-game GSC series at Mississippi College, that resulted in four RBI, two runs scored and a pair of home runs.

GSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Adrian Byrd, LHP, Sr., Delta State
In his third outing of the season, Byrd put together a strong performance as he was credited with a 9-2 win at Union, improving to 2-0 on the year. The senior southpaw worked eight scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and zero walks. Byrd, who was perfect through the opening four frames, left Union hitters with a .038 batting average, conceding just one hit in 26 batters faced.

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tucker Ricks, RHP, West Florida
Ricks moved to 2-0 on the season as the Argonauts defeated Christian Brothers, 7-0, in GSC action. The rookie threw five scoreless innings, struck out five, walked two and allowed one hit. Ricks worked efficiently throwing 65 pitches while facing 18 batters. Ricks had a no-hitter through 4.2 innings, leaving CBU hitters with a .067 batting average.
