Montevallo's Wyatt Named NCBWA Region Pitcher of the Week

LAKELAND, Fla. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its NCAA Division II weekly award winners of the 2026 for performances between February 9-15, with Montevallo’s Zach Wyatt named as the South Region Pitcher of the Week.

Wyatt improved to 2-1 on the season after being credited with a 9-0 win over No. 10 West Florida. The junior righty recorded six strikeouts and a .174 opponent batting average, as he worked seven scoreless innings and scattered four hits in the performance. 

Previously named Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week, Wyatt is the league’s student-athlete to earn regional weekly accolades during the opening three weeks of the season.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
