BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Montevallo swept the third edition of the 2026 Gulf South Conference Softball Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions, as Becca Benton (player), Taylor Lloyd (pitcher) and Taylor Rogers (freshman) were each recognized following their performances during the week of February 9-16.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Becca Benton, INF, Sr., Montevallo
Benton had a big week at the plate as she batted .647, slugged 1.765, and had a .667 on base percentage, while driving in 16 runs and scoring 11 more. The senior recorded four multi-hit games as she finished 11-for-16 across six games with a double and six home runs. She was a combined 4-for-4 at the dish with eight RBI and three homers in a mid-week doubleheader with Miles. At the Cougar-Hurricane Classic, Benton hit .538 (7-for-13) and added eight RBI and three home runs to her weekly as Montevallo went 4-0 as it defeated Eckerd, Mars Hill, Converser and Mount Olive.

GSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Lloyd, Sr., Montevallo
Lloyd tallied wins against Miles, Eckerd and Mount Olive last week to improve to 7-0 on the season. The senior posted a 0.39 ERA as she surrendered just two runs with one earned across 18.0 innings. She also recorded 21 strikeouts and logged an opponent batting average of .167 while facing 67 batters. Lloyd became the Montevallo’s career all-time wins leader as she notched her 42nd victory against Eckerd, before shutting out Mount Olive for number 43.

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Taylor Rogers, OF, Montevallo
Rogers strung together a solid offensive week with a hit in five of six games and three multi-RBI outings, helping Montevallo go 6-0. The freshman was 8-for-16 (.500) hitting with six runs scored and seven RBI, while slugging .813 with a a pair of doubles and a home run. Her standout game of the week came against Mars Hill where was 3-for-3 at the plate, had two RBI and a tallied a single-game program record five stolen bases. Rogers later had a three-run as the Falcons upended Mount Olive, 6-0, to close the week.
