The Gulf South Conference announced its eighth softball weekly award winners of the 2025 season for performances between March 17-23.
Valdsota State's Aniston Gano (player), West Alabama's Madison Wright (pitcher) and Mississippi College's Blakely Gill (freshman) were recognized.
Player of the Week:
Aniston Gano, Sr., INF, Valdosta State
Gano drove in seven runs, scored three and went 6-for-9 (.667) at the plate during the week to help the Blazers sweep Montevallo. The senior opened the series with a 3-for-4 outing with two runs batted in, before capping the Saturday twin bill with a 2-for-3 effort with three RBI and a home run. In the finale, Gano tallied two RBI, a home run and drew two walks with a 1-for-2 performance at the plate. She also slugged 1.333 over the three game-set and had a .727 on-base percentage. This is her second consecutive GSC Player of the Week award of the season.

Pitcher of the Week:
Madison Wright, LHP, Sr., West Alabama
Wright helped West Alabama to an unblemished week as she threw a combined 20.0 innings over four games. The senior left-hander began the week tossing eight innings in a doubleheader with Columbus State. In the opener, she went the full seven innings, striking out 11, posting a .091 batting average, while surrendering two hits and two runs in a 3-2 victory. She then worked a perfect inning of relief in game two to secure a 6-5 win. Wright returned to the circle in the Tigers' series with Delta State, throwing a combined 12 innings and seven strikeouts, while giving up six runs on 11 hits. She helped UWA complete the series sweep another seven-inning complete game performance, that included three strikeouts in a 3-2 win.

Freshman of the Week:
Blakely Gill, Fr., C, Mississippi College
Gill had a productive weekend at the plate as Mississippi College swept a three-game set from Trevecca. The rookie catcher contributed with three RBI, four runs scored, two doubles, and stolen base while hitting .600 (6-for-10) for the series. She also slugged .800 and had a .600 on-base percentage. The highlight of the weekend was a 3-for-4 outing in game two that included two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBI in a lopsided 14-0 win.
