BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — West Florida strengthen its hold atop the GSC football standings after a offensive-focused showdown, while Valdosta State upended West Alabama at home.

In a marquee top-20 matchup, No. 3 West Florida downed No. 15 Delta State 51-38 in Cleveland, Miss. The Argonauts finished with 485 yards of offense with 274 yards on the ground, while the Statesmen had 310 yards of offense with 232 yards through the air. UWF improved to 2-0 in GSC play and 9-0 on the year. Delta State slipped to 1-1 in conference play and 7-2 overall.
Valdosta State notched its first GSC win of the season with a 45-35 win over No. 21 West Alabama. The Tiger offense had big day racking up 552 yards with 329 on the ground. The Blazers meanwhile finished with 407 yards, including 261 passing yards. VSU improved to 4-4 on the year and went to 1-0 on league play. West Alabama finished GSC play with an 0-3 record and slipped to 5-3 on the year.
