BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Montevallo was tabbed the favorite to win the 2025-26 Gulf South Conference men’s basketball title, as selected by the league’s head coaches.
The Falcons garnered 114 total points and six first-place votes, after going 20-11 last season with a 15-7 record in conference play.
The top eight predicted order of finish was Montevallo, UAH, Valdosta State, West Alabama, Lee, Union, and Delta State. While positions nine through 12 consisted of West Florida, Auburn Montgomery, Christian Brothers and Mississippi College.
Preseason all-conference selections were also announced, as determined by the head coaches. Montevallo duo Jaylen Curry and Brandon Fussell as the only returning All-GSC honorees from last season. The preseason lineup also included Christian Brothers’s Iman Kheirati, Delta State’s Kolby Horace, and Valdosta State’s Drew Mills.
In addition, the 2025-26 GSC Men’s Basketball Newcomers to Watch was also unveiled. This year’s list featured 32 names and represented all 12 teams. Honorees were submitted their head coaches. Click here for to see the full list.

The 2025-26 season tips off on Friday, Nov. 14, with opening conference play salted to open on December 4. Teams will play a double-round robin conference schedule that will comprise of 20 games over 12 weeks.
