BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Region Team were announced on Tuesday (May 16). Headlining the announcement for the Gulf South Conference was Mississippi College’s McCall Lee, who was named South Region Player of the Year.

Lee shattered school records, amassing an impressive 67 runs batted in, 76 hits, and 140 total bases, while tying the record for record for doubles (19). The junior catcher’s remarkable statistics at the plate also included a .415 batting average, a .765 slugging percentage, 49 runs scored, and 15 home runs. As a result, Lee was an all-conference and NFCA All-Region First Team selection. She also hauled in the prestigious title of the 2023 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the conference.
With the announcement, Lee also became the latest D2CCA South Region Player of the Year recognized from the Gulf South, extending the conference’s streak to seven-straight years and the first from Mississippi College.
In the all-region voting, the conference was the overwhelmingly best represented league from the region as it had 18 overall honorees, including eight First Team nods. The Sunshine State Conference (SSC) followed with eight overall selection with five First Teamers, while the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) had two awardees and one on the First Team.
Auburn Montgomery and Mississippi College led the way with four All-Region honorees. Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama followed with three selections apiece. The Choctaws and UAH also had a region-best three First Team selections.
