#GSCSB Players of the Week: March 15

The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week for the 2022 season. This week's awards were for games played between Mar. 7-13.

Player of the Week: Sierra Easterwood – Sr., 3B, Montevallo
Easterwood lead Montevallo to a 5-0 record last week after impressive performances from the plate in UM’s series against Georgia Southwestern and Christian Brothers. During the double header with Georgia Southwestern, the senior went 4-for-7 with four RBIs and four runs including a walk-off homer to secure the 6-5 win in the first game of the series. The veteran third baseman hit for the cycle in UM’s final game with CBU on Sunday, March 13. She finished the week batting .611 (11-for-18) with eight RBIs, nine runs, seven extra base hits, and three homeruns.

Pitcher of the Week: Mabry Norris – Sr., P, Montevallo
Norris went 3-0 over the last week after appearing in four of Montevallo’s matchups. She pitched a five inning no-hitter as Montevallo took an 8-0 win against Christian Brothers on Sunday, March 13. She struck out three while allowing just two base-runners on a pair of walks.

Freshman of the Week: Alexa Scalzo – SS, Lee
Lee’s freshman shortstop had a big week in the batter’s box with a batting average of .545 (6-for-11) with three RBIs, a run and a double in LU’s series with Delta State. During the final game against DSU, Scalzo knocked in two runs on a single in the top of the seventh inning to give Lee the win in the game and the series.
