#GSCSB Players of the Week: March 8
The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week for the 2022 season. This week's awards were for games played between Feb. 28-March 6.
Player of the Week: R.J. Janke, UTL – West Georgia
Janke hit .471 (8-for-17) as West Georgia went 4-1 last week. The sophomore hit one double three homeruns, eight RBIs and scored six runs while playing error-free at first base with a total of 48 chances. Her biggest game at the plate came against Union where she hit 3-for-4 with one homerun while driving in two runs and scoring two of her own.

Pitcher of the Week: Samantha Richards, RHP – Valdosta State
Richards finished the week with a 4-0 record with a 1.25 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched. She pitched three complete games, including two wins against Montevallo, and a shutout in the Blazers contest with Flagler on March 2. The junior gave up just 15 hits and four earned runs while recording 37 strikeouts. She tied her career-high with 14 strikeouts against Montevallo on March 5.

Freshman of the Week: Ana Macha, OF, Lee
Macha batted .500 with a triple, three RBIs and four runs as Lee won four of its last five including a 2-1 record against No. 12 Auburn Montgomery. In the series with AUM, the freshman outfielder batted .625 with five hits in eight at bats while scoring three runs and batting in two more. She also added two stolen bases in the final game of the series.
