BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Valdosta State trio Julius Pascal (defensive), Shawn Paschall (offensive) and Jabari McMillan (freshman), along with Delta State’s Jordan McKnight (special teams) were recognized as the Gulf South Conference Football Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions were announced following Week 3 action.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shawn Paschall, RB, So., Valdosta State 

• Rushed for a career-high 155 yards in a 44-41 loss to UNC Pembroke.
• The sophomore ran the ball 11 times, averaging 14.1 yards per carry, scoring two touchdowns. 
• His longest run of the day was for 45 yards, finding the end zone, helping the Blazers cut the deficit to three with 6:52 remaining.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julius Pascal, LB, Jr., Valdosta State

• Finished with nine tackles, including three six unassisted, plus an interception in a 44-41 loss at UNC Pembroke.
• The junior also recorded a tackle for loss, half a sack, one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries.
• Tallied a 94-yard pick six in the first quarter, giving the Blazers a 27-10 lead.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan McKnight, DB, Sr., Delta State

• Helped Delta State snap a three-game skid with a 21-6 win over Division I-foe Mississippi Valley State.
• Down 3-0 in the third, the senior recovered and returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a touchdown, leading the Statesmen a 7-3 lead.

FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jabari McMillan, DB, Valdosta State

• Recorded a season-high eight total tackles in a 44-41 loss to UNC Pembroke.
• Of the eight stops, the rookie had seven unassisted, along with one tackle for lose.
• This is the second consecutive week earning GSC Freshman of the Week honors.
