TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — West Florida lifted the 2026 Gulf South Conference Men’s Tennis Championship tournament on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over No. 2-seeded Lee from the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center.

With the win, the Argonauts celebrated their first tournament title since 2022 and their 15th in program history. In addition, West Florida secured the GSC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championship. Lee and the rest of the conference will await to hear its name called in the NCAA Selection Show set for Monday, May 4 at 7:30 pm Central.
The top-seeded Argonauts took an early lead winning two-of-three matches to claim the doubles point. In singles, the advantage was increased to 2-0, thanks to Diego Duran’s 6-3, 6-2 decision on court two. Rytis Razminas then put Lee on the board soon after with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles, trimming the deficit to 2-1.
After a near two and half hour battle, Sebastian Rondon defeated Filipe Krohn, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, giving West Florida a 3-1 lead. Fourty minutes later, Goncalo Quintela sealed match with 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 win over Francisco Guimarães on court five. The victory also extended West Florida win streak to 20 matches and moving its record to 23-1, while Lee slips to 14-2 and see’s its nine-match win streak come to end.
