BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — AUM’s Melissa Yakup Pour (player) and Mercedes Garcia Cid (freshman) were recognized with the final 2026 Gulf South Conference Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions, following their performances between April 13-19.

GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Melissa Yakup Pour, Sr., AUM

• Led AUM to a 6-1 win over Montevallo to wrap up the regular season.
• Defeated Montevallo’s Klara Podskubkova in a three-set comeback (3-6, 7-5, 6-3) from court one.
• Earned a doubles win alongside Nagisa Yonezawa at No. 1.
• Defeated Montevallo’s Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba (6-4).

GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Mercedes Garcia Cid, Fr., AUM

• Helped the Warhawks secure a 6-1 win over Montevallo.
• Defeated Montevallo’s Sophia Baillos (6-4, 6-0) in singles at the No. 3 spot.
• Teamed up with Sofia Neri for a dominant doubles win from court two.
• Defeated Montevallo’s Ella De Jesus and Sophia Baillos (6-1).
