BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — AUM’s Melissa Yakup Pour and Mercedes Garcia Cid swept the seventh set of Gulf South Conference Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for the 2026 season, following their performances from March 16-22.
 
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Melissa Yakup Pour, AUM

• Went 2-0 in singles while playing at No. 1 in the lineup.
  • Defeated Delta State’s Trinity Ly (6-3, 6-4).
  • Defeated fifth-ranked Emily Buchanan from Mississippi College (6-3, 2-6, 6-4).
• Went 1-0 in doubles alongside Nagisa Yonezawa.
  • Defeated DSU’s Ly and Amelia Ciesilczyk (6-1).
  • Match versus third-ranked Buchanan and Ann Cabot Stockett was unfinished.

Mercedes Garcia Cid, AUM

• Went 2-0 at singles playing at courts 3 and 2. 
  • Defeated Delta State’s Yasmina Mayer (6-3, 6-3).
  • Defeated Mississippi College’s Rocio Martinez (7-5, 4-6, 6-4).
• Went 1-1 in doubles alongside Allison Blanco.
  • Defeated DSU’s Lena Kuehn and Angie Moreno (6-3).
  • Fell to MC’s Martinez and Anna Hudson (3-6).
