BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mississippi College's Emily Buchanan (player) and AUM's Mercedes Garcia Cid (freshman) earned the fifth set of Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for the 2026 season, following their performances from March 2-8.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emily Buchanan, Jr., Mississippi College
- Went 2-0 at No. 1 singles.
- Defeated 11th-ranked Yona Bancarel of UT Tyler (6-1, 6-2).
- Defeated 5th-ranked Salma Djoubri of Lynn (6-4, 7-6 [7-5]).
- Recorded a pair of wins alongside Ann Cabot Stockett.
- Defeated UTT's 11th-ranked Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny (6-1).
- Defeated Lynn's Carla Galmiche and Kristen Younes (7-6 [7-5]).
