BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mississippi College’s Sergio Ramirez Ocana (player) and Lee’s Francisco Guimarães (freshman) were recognized with Gulf South Conference Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards Presented by Athletic Solutions, following their performances between Feb. 16-22.
GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sergio Ramirez Ocana, Jr., Mississippi College
- Notched three singles wins and two doubles wins as Mississippi went 3-0 on the week.
- Went 3-0 in singles from courts four and five.
- Defeated Lubbock Christian (6-7, 6-3, 6-0).
- Defeated Spring Hill’s Luke Bedwell (6-3, 6-2).
- Defeated UT Permian Basin’s Andrew Hunsley (7-5, 6-2).
- Went 2-0 in doubles alongside Joshua Hinton while playing court three.
- Defeated LCU (6-3).
- Defeated UTPB’s Kabir Chothani and Phillipp Gaurieder (6-1).

- Collected a singles win and a doubles win to help the Flames defeat conference foe Delta State 6-1.
- Picked up a singles win at No. 5.
- Defeated DSU’s Alejandro Bravo (7-5, 6-3).
- Teamed up with Rytis Razminas for a doubles win from court three.
- Defeated DSU’s Valentin Greco and Simon Ojeda (6-4).
