BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — On the final day of the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championships, Lee University captured its seventh consecutive women’s title while the men celebrated its fourth in program history.
The Lady Flames amassed 239.5 points, third-most in women’s GSC Championship history. The team was led by Liz Lannom as she registered 40.5 points and was named the GSC Women’s Most Outstanding Overall Performer after medaling in four of five events. In addition, Aria Hawkins was the GSC Women's Most Outstanding Track Performer, tallying 40 points, after winning all four individual events she competed in.
The Lee men finished with the third-highest total in GSC Championship history as it collected 213 points. The Flames were paced by Pierre Chauveau as he scored 22.5 points as was named the GSC Men's Track Most Outstanding Performer after winning the 3,000-meter and one-mile races and was a member of the distance medley team that placed first on day one.

UAH’s Caroline Sanders was named the GSC Women's Most Outstanding Field and Freshmen Performer. She is the first Charger to receive top field honors, while becoming the third to earn the freshman award. Sanders recorded 21.33 points while competing in five events. She placed third in the women’s pentathlon and long jump during day one before wrapping up the Championship on Friday with a second-place effort in the triple jump landing at 11.54m (37-10.5).
The West Alabama women continued to shine on day two as it won the 4x400 with a time of 3:57.18, while J’da Williams (7.55) and Adria Burrell (7.68) finished second and third respectively in the 60-meters. The Tigers finished fifth in the team standing in their GSC Championship debut.
Mississippi College’s Jake McMillian was named the GSC Men's Most Outstanding Overall and Freshman Performer, becoming the first athlete to claim both in the same year. The rookie won the men’s heptathlon and shattered the record scoring 5,058 points, winning three events. He also took third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.30) and registered points in the high jump (1.95/6-4.75) and long jump (6.41m/21-0.5).
In addition to McMIllian’s performance in the multis, the Choctaws set three GSC Championship records. Freshman Schyler Chambers won the triple jump with leap of 14.93m (48-11.75). On the track, Gabe Hodson smashed the 800 mark with a time of 1:49.86, while the 4x400 team clocked in at 3:13.51.
UAH’s Malik Turner reprised his title as the men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer for the second straight year. The senior recorded 22 points after winning the long jump with a leap of 6.95m (22-9.75) on Thursday. He then earned a pair of third-place finishes during day two in the triple jump with a distance of 13.69m (44-11.0), while clearing 1.98m (6-6.0) in the high jump.
