GSC Softball Shines as Easton/NFCA Academic Awards Announced

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three Gulf South Conference programs ranked among the nation’s best in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year, as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its Easton Top-10 GPAs and All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.

Auburn Montgomery led all NCAA Division II programs with a impressive 3.882 team GPA. Lee followed with a 3.736 GPA, earning ninth-place nationally, while Delta State took 13th with 3.730 GPA. Overall, nine of the GSC’s 12 softball programs appeared on the national list, including UAH, Montevallo, Trevecca Nazarene, Union, Valdosta State, and West Alabama.

The NFCA also honored individual academic standouts, with 11 of the league’s 12 member schools from the 2025 season producing Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. Lee led the way with 18 honorees, followed closely by Auburn Montgomery with 17. Delta State tallied 16 selections, while Montevallo and Trevecca Nazarene each had 14. Overall, a total of 145 GSC student-athletes were recognized.

To qualify for Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the academic year and have a head coach who is an active NFCA member.
