AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators announced that Valdosta State infielder Aniston Gano was named to one of three 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Academic All-American Teams.
Gano earned second team honors after posting a graduate GPA of 3.90 and an undergraduate GPA of 3.83 while majoring in Physical Education.

On the diamond, Gano finished fifth on the season in batting average (.393), led the conference in home runs (17), and was third in the GSC in RBIs with 44. She was also named the GSC Co-Player of the Year and a member of the First Team All-GSC squad.
Student-athletes with a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher and satisfy other criteria are eligible to be nominated by members of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Nominees recognized with Academic All-District® honors are then added to the national ballot which is voted on all College Sports Communicators members affiliated with a Division II school or conference.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all divisions of college athletics.
