Union Celebrate Seventh Women's Basketball Tournament Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Union celebrated its fifth tournaemnt title in six years and seventh all-time on Sunday as it defeated Alabama Huntsville, 58-52, in the 2025 Truist Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Championship played at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Ala.

With the victory the Lady Bulldogs secured the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship. UAH and the rest of the GSC will await to it name called tonight during the NCAA Selection Show and will tune into NCAA.com at 10:30 pm ET.

Macey Lee had 19 points while Courtney Zensen had 10 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Lee also had a team-high seven boards en route to being named Most Outstanding Player. She and Zensen were tabbed for the all-tournament team. 

UAH's Lili Wilken led scorers with 22 points and was also named to the all-tournament. Alexis Woods also received an all-tournament nod after chipping in with six points and a game-high 11 boards.

Also named to the GSC Women's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team was Lee's Mallory Hampton and West Florida's Delaney Trushel. 

Union held a 24-20 led at the half. Trailing 44-38 at the start of the fourth, UAH pulled within two, 51-49, with two minutes remaining. A three-pointer from Bethany Dillard pushed the UU margin to five, 54-49, with 40 seconds left. Bella White cut the deficit to 55-52 with a layup with 15 seconds left but that was the closest it came as Union converted three-of-four from the line to secure the game. 

The Chargers shot 20-for-58 (.345) from the floor with seven-of-28 from three-point range. Union converted on 21-of-60 (.350) from the field and eight-of-32 (.250) from deep. UAH finished with a 44-35 advantage on the glass, though had 17 turnovers to Union's 10.
