The Gulf South Conference announced the launch of the 2026-27 GSC Basketball Tipoff along with the men’s and women’s basketball conference schedule. Game times will be shared by each institution at a later date. 
 
The inaugural GSC Basketball Tipoff will use a media day-style format, giving fans a chance to hear from head coaches and select student-athletes from each program. The two-day event will begin November 2 with women’s interviews followed by men’s interviews on November 3. All interviews will be available for free on FloCollege and the GSC YouTube and Facebook channels. 
 
The 2026-27 GSC calendar is a double-round robin format consisting of 20 games played over the course of 12 weeks. All matchups are presented as a men’s and women’s doubleheader. 
 
2026-27 GSC COMPOSITE BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
 
Conference play begins December 3 and runs until the regular season finale slated for February 26. The 2026-27 regular season officially tips off November 13. The season will pause December 21-27 as part of the NCAA Division II winter break.
 
The 2027 GSC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will open with quarterfinals on March 1, followed by semifinals and championship round matchups played on March 4 and March 7, respectively. Each tournament will consist of the top eight teams from each standing. Like last season, the higher-seeded team in each matchup will have home court advantage during each round.

The GSC had a combined six basketball teams qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships. UAH and Union appeared in the women’s South Region tournament hosted by top-seeded UAH, who eventually advanced to the Division II Women's Final Four. On the men’s side, UAH, Montevallo, West Alabama and West Florida played in the South Regional, with UAH advancing to the South Region title game for the second consecutive year.
