Preceding the 2025 Truist Gulf South Conference Women’s Basketball Championship, the conference unveiled the All-GSC selections and major award winners for the 2024-25 season. All awards were voted by the Conference’s 12 head coaches, who could not vote for candidates from their own team.
The individual accolades were split between three teams, as Alabama Huntsville guard Lili Wilken was tabbed as GSC Player of the Year. Montevallo forward Aubrey Sorrells was tabbed as Freshman of the Year, while Union’s Mark Campbell was voted Coach of the Year.
In all-conference voting, 14 student-athletes were recognized, including 11 first time All-GSC honorees. West Florida had a conference-best four selections, followed by Union who had three. Lee and Valdosta State each had two honorees, while Alabama Huntsville, Auburn Montgomery, and Mississippi College each placed one on the all-conference squad.
Wilkin finished the season second among GSC leaders in scoring, netting 17.2 points per game. She was also second in the with regards to field goal percentage (.495) and sixth in free throw shooting (.784). In 28 games, the junior filled up the stat sheet registering 184 total rebounds, 95 assists and 50 steals. As result, she was ninth in steals per game, sixth in assists per game, fourth in turnover-assist ratio (1.9) and seventh-overall in rebounding. With the announcement, Wilkin is UAH’s first GSC Player of the Year since Jasmine Hammon was honored during the 2012-13 season.
Sorrells was a key contributor for Montevallo averaging 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while appearing in 26 games for the Falcons. The rookie finished the season among GSC leaders including points per game (14th), rebounds per game (17th), and total blocked shots (seventh/21). During the season, Sorrells was recognized as GSC Freshman of the Week a record 11 times.
After leading Union its eighth conference regular season title since the 2015-16 season, Campbell was tabbed with GSC top coaching accolades for the sixth time. Under his direction, the Lady Bulldogs finished the season with a 21-1 conference record, 26-3 overall, while leading Division II in three-pointer per game (11.8) and being third in scoring offense (84.9 ppg).
